At the 2016 China (Shanghai) Amusement Industry Development Summit Forum - Virtual Reality Technology and Theme Park Development Forum, Mr. Liu Yuzheng, Vice President of Huayi Brother Real Entertainment Co., Ltd., delivered the keynote speech “When VR Meets Theme Park”. Some thoughts about the application of VR in the theme park and the challenges it will face in the future.

There are two hot words this year. One is IP and the other is VR.
Different people have different ideas for VR that breaks into the entertainment industry. For example, if we do paradise and we hear the word VR, we all think: Should the park introduce VR? The equipment manufacturers saw many people making VR and they were strange faces. When they saw these people who didn't know each other, they went to the association one by one and rushed into our industry. They took away the “cake” and their hearts were very different. Hey: Do you want to do VR? Of course, there is a purely lively one.
We have our opinion on VR's entry into the theme park. Today we would like to discuss it with everyone here. "When the VR met the theme park", we are also thinking about whether or not Paradise should use VR.
We divide VR into parts.
First of all, let's look at the development model of VR.
VR is commonly called virtual reality (I only talk about VR today, AR does not speak, MR does not speak). The earliest development of VR should be applied to military technology. In fact, a lot of amusement facilities in the park are developed from the defense industry, including the dynamic movies we see. VR is also like this. When VR technology was developed, people found that this thing was good and it was good to use. So slowly, it evolved from a personal game to a popular game, from one person to many people playing. Why do many people play it? Because many people play, the market can grow. In addition, we look back at the theme park development model, from amusement parks to theme parks, to IP theme parks. In fact, the difference between a theme park and an IP theme park is not great. However, we see a trend that is the development of a real theme park to a virtual theme park. And there is a boundary between reality and virtual reality. Virtual is more and more virtual, and virtual is more and more true. In this we see a consensus: the theme park is more and more concerned with the development of personalization.
As you recall, VR was slowly becoming popular and the theme park slowly evolved from popularity to personalization. So here we give it a word called Virtual Reality and Virtual Reality. So VR slowly creates a golden cross between the theme park and the two. The emergence of this golden cross is also the emergence of our opportunity.
Let's talk about why guests come to your theme park to play your VR device. First of all, let's take a look at several features of VR. One feature is the limitation of space. Interactions are ignored, and interaction between people and people is very limited.
Of course, there are some people who interact more with people. So we found all kinds of VR on the Internet. They said that this is not VR at all. How can we solve it? We found a solution from the theme park.
So what do I say that the theme park can give you? Can give you a world outside the helmet. This is what we can do. After the theme park plus VR, I can give you a world outside the helmet. What is the world outside the helmet?
From the four perspectives, we can use VR plus amusement equipment first, but I would like to emphasize one thing here. I personally do not approve of the VR+ roller coaster because wearing helmets takes longer than riding a roller coaster. A roller coaster will end in 90 seconds. Wear a VR helmet and take it off. Roller coasters will invest 100 million. The result is wearing a VR helmet and your traffic will drop by half.
The second is VR plus somatosensory vehicle. As practitioners, we all know that we do not need a roller coaster. Just sit in the car and shake it. Because of wearing a helmet, it is not clear whether it has gone.
The third type is VR plus real-world environment, which is wind and thunder and lightning, which makes people experience the environment. This is difficult to achieve in the general family environment, but this can be achieved in indoor and outdoor theme parks.
The fourth is the space for VR and mobile space. Space is the biggest advantage of outdoor parks. Indoor parks are very stressful and flat. How much is a square meter? Rarely did you hear that outdoor parks are flat, because they are all five acres and one mu, and the biggest advantage of outdoor parks is that they are big.
What has just been said is why, from the perspective of consumers, that from the perspective of our practitioners? Why do you want it? Because after more than ten years and twenty years of development, the theme park may have opened for more than ten years. Today, a veteran tells them that they have been in business for more than 10 years. A project hasn't been updated. I had a cold sweat. I haven't updated my project for more than 10 years. You're still alive. It's not easy. Which project in the country has been open for more than ten years. Has a project not been updated? There should be no, and anything fell. In other words, our projects need to be updated frequently, upgrade and upgrade. The media or local government often asks you, what new days do you update? So we often say that we will never finish the day.
VR has three needs with the park.

One is VR Paradise, which means that I completely build a paradise, called VR Paradise, and the second is the upgrade of the original paradise. I started a few years ago and now I want to add new equipment. The third kind is the inspiration of the new park. For example, the current park will be opened next year. When I was planning, I discovered that VR came out, and then the investigation and research were done. The risk is great because you are the first one. Basically these three. One of these three is a false proposition. What does that mean? VR Paradise, I think VR Paradise is a false proposition.
Laser lasers were invented decades ago. I was told that I would like to open a laser park. What kind of park is called a laser park? Laser is a technology. It is an application. How can it be a paradise? By the same token, VR is a technology. How can it be the theme of paradise? So for me, it is at best an application. Maybe I say so, many people will not be happy. However, I think that everyone should walk together. I need to feel conscience to tell you the truth. This VR is a false proposition. Then you say VR is a false proposition, what about VR Park? All things have to go back to entertainment. Entertainment is the real need. In other words, you are solving an entertainment solution. VR is just a kind of technology. No matter what you do in an indoor paradise or what you do, VR is just one of your options. VR is not all. So the next thing to look at is the opportunity and the challenge.
First look at one, VR brings many opportunities for the theme park. The first one I think it will reduce costs. There was a movie called "Assembly". It was a dark ride and a shuttle battle in "Assembly". After our adjustment, we saved about 10 million in cost. Because there is no need for landscaping, because the audience wears helmets, so of the more than 5,000 square meters, there are only tracks and ceilings. There is no need to make landscaping. It is a landscaping that saves me a lot of money. Second, my content is very easy to change. Well, today's video is called “Assembly”. When you put it on, it’s called “Assembly”. We used to fail to reach the level of Universal Studios. Why? Human resources, financial resources, we can not reach. But VR solves this problem for you. Another audience is more crowded. In other words, the past equipment, it has age restrictions, height restrictions, and even some things have weight restrictions, VR does not, as long as you have a head, eyes are normal, you can wear it, now the only trouble is the big head The head of the child is not the same as the head of the adult. It will solve this problem, but it is basically unlimited. The last one is a sense of freshness. It is not too fast, but whoever is faster or younger, and you feel nothing new. The first VR came out with long lines. Are you looking at the new lineup now? Nothing.
Next, let's look at what are the challenges?
Everything is one and the other. There are good and bad things. First look at the consequences of entertainment equipment. What are the requirements for entertainment equipment?
There are three major requirements, the first being comfort, safety, and hygiene. Of course, entertainment facilities do not limit these requirements. I am the chief speaker. Let's take a look. After you make the play equipment plus VR, you won't meet the standards in terms of comfort. This helmet is very heavy. Everyone who tried VR knows that the helmet is worn and you are uncomfortable after ten minutes. Now. Some people said they did not yet have ten minutes. Of course, there is something wonderful, and for an hour, the film is not over yet.
The second is security. For amusement facilities, it must be very safe. There is a problem with VR and it will dizzy after wearing it. The third is about health issues. The helmet was attached to his face and put on his head. Especially during the summer, people would sweat out of their faces and change their clothes one by one. This is also a problem that must be faced.
Let's look at some principles of a downstream music device.
First of all we asked for amusement equipment to be quick. A 100 million device, the equipment factory tells you that an hour can flow is 1000 people. You count, 100 million divided by 1,000. What is the concept? We require fast traffic. But what about VR? The trouble is coming and the time of experience cannot be too short. It takes 90 seconds to wear a pair of glasses and take off the glasses. The experience time should not be too short, otherwise the guests will be paralyzed. The second experience is more frequent. There are several problems with VR. The problem of power supply endurance. It is said that there is wireless charging, but I do not know how the current device is charged. Then there is the video transmission. Now there is a line. I heard that there is no line transmission, but my colleague said that the K number of transmissions is not enough. So it's not so easy to wear, its traffic is affected. In fact, we have a lot of colleagues here, opened a VR park, the biggest pain is the flow does not go up, there are no ordinary people, short queues on Saturdays and Sundays. Traffic will not go up and investment recovery will be affected.
Looking at another investment, there are now three major categories of mainstream parks.
60% of the theme parks are female audiences. But what do women feel about VR? We saw from the report. 70% of women feel that VR's body feels uncomfortable. And according to medical research, the physiological structure of female siblings is particularly sensitive to vertigo. That is, gay men's feelings are different from their lesbian experiences. You don't feel dizzy, she faints. Just like drinking, you are not drunk and drunk. The second category is children. Now our products, VR content, children or children, children's content are not too many. The third is the family. We all know that when we are a family, we have two big and one small. We have now opened up our second child, two big and two small, and four people wear helmets. There is no exchange. Therefore, it is not very favorable for this main customer group.
The other is the pattern. Our theme park has always encouraged people to go out and go outdoors, instead of staying at home. Then VR is wearing a helmet and enjoying it.
So overall, VR has added a choice for theme parks, but VR cannot completely replace theme parks. So we don't have to worry that VR will never replace you. The key is how you use it.
Next we have to think about content. I have always stressed one problem. VR is a technology and it is a carrier. What is the key? The key is content.
OK, let's take a look at how some of these VR are currently available in the market.
Six angles, one is around the world, there is a virtual application. Boating, cycling, mountain climbing, etc. There are also virtual sports, archery shotguns, etc., as well as virtual ones, music and dance, and another kind of socialization. So what we're seeing is that it's weird to experience something that can be achieved in real life through VR. I think it's very strange because my question is: Is your social networking through VR better than social reality? Are you more fun than live-action archery with VR archery? I do not think so. So my question is, will you really be more exciting with VR?
Let me take a few examples to see if the VR roller coaster and the real roller coaster ride will react the same way? will not.
VR battle game, with you go to the forest to play real CS, the gun will be hurt, the same? Different.
We watch concerts in VR, Victoria shows in VR, do you feel the same? Only satisfy voyeurism. If you read live concerts, you will know that the scene will look better. Does anyone watch VR concert crying? Will not. Some people watch VR concerts faint, not because of moving halo, but being stunned by VR.
What can be achieved in real life is not good content. What is it? I think it is impossible or impossible for people to realize through VR that this is the value of VR.
I divided it into two categories, the first called human dreams, and the second called human imagination. Dreams are not the same as imagination. Dreams can be realized. Imagination can never be achieved. Dreams I think, split it into three categories, we are not doing academic research, so we don't want to be true. This is a type, another type, human imagination, we have infinite imagination, so we divided it into three categories, one is a science fiction, magical world, just like the games we played. Most of these games are virtual, non-realistic, and there is also a space for two-dimensional elements. Does this space exist in the end? We don't know either. I can only say that it is something in science fiction science fiction movies. There is also a kind of fairy tale and myth. There is another kind of thing that can never be said clearly. It is called ghost. VR is very suitable for watching ghosts. Have you found it? You can't hit a ghost, but you can see ghosts in VR.
So we can see that Magic Space is suitable for VR because you can't find alternatives. So here VR finds opportunities. In the world of sci-fi, you have to go to the Star Wars. There is no chance. But we put on the helmet and you can have Star Wars.
There are many people who say that we are going to Avatar. When Avatar was broadcast, many people thought that there was Pandora, but it could be further realized through VR to get you into Pandora.
So we sum up again, technology-based, content for the soul. Because I do not research technology, our company does content. So I think content is more important. I'm not saying that technology is not important. It's not technology that touches people. It's content.
We see the industry booming and we see that technology is constantly improving. I just want to tell everyone today that we have more room for imagination and we leave more possibilities.
